Financial Reporting

Structured, yet flexible and accurate

OLAP Office Explorer™ flexible and easy-to-use dimensional reporting functionality make it the best reporting choice for companies preparing financial information within the Microsoft Analysis Services (OLAP) environment. OLAP Office Explorer™ caters for multiple formats of financial reporting, including group consolidations, to be produced from one set of base data. For instance, from a general ledger trial balance, the

  • internal management accounts
  • head office accounts
  • statutory accounts
  • regulatory accounts for the SEC, FSA and more
  • cashflow
  • taxation calculations

can be prepared simultaneously from the base data. OLAP Office™ uses techniques for Microsoft’s Analysis Services that allow for easier control and reconciliation of multiple hierarchies of data. In effect, the structured approach adopted simplifies the update process for multiple hierarchies and provides users with confidence in the resultant numbers.

One of the main benefits for users is the ability to make changes at base level, which then automatically updates ALL the reporting formats. For example, if a late adjustment was made to the financial data, then this adjustment would be reflected in all the reporting formats once recalculated. This methodology significantly reduces the reconciliation process and allows the analysts and accountants to do what they are paid to do, not the time consuming, clerical tasks associated with spreadsheets.

Also important to the end user, is the ability to slice ad-hoc reports from Microsoft’s Analysis Services (OLAP) cubes into the familiar spreadsheet format. The dynamic links between the “OLAP Office Explorer™” spreadsheets and cubes allows for simple updates within multidimensional spreadsheets. Report generation is by using the market leading report writer, Microsoft Excel. A tool and report writer that everyone knows! Leverage this experience and knowledge with OLAP Office Explorer™.

  3. You could use your existing reports and retrieve data from your existing cubes. If your data is not centralized then we can do this for you.
  4. You can centralize settings.

All the numbers and company name have been removed from this live client example. This client was using spreadsheets for their reporting. OLAP Office™ were asked to improve their reporting process. Analysis Services dimensions and cubes were created. The General Ledger Trial Balance is downloaded automatically. The cubes are updated automatically. Budgeting and forecasting is included in the application, with forecasting being automated in parts. Days of labor intensive work are now avoided with the benefit of automated monthly forecasting. OLAP Office™ makes the integration to General Ledger information very simple and flexible, with fewer spreadsheets required than other products.
