OLAP Office™, with Microsoft Analysis Services (OLAP), is versatile enough to be used for fixed asset calculations and to amortize the assets over the useful lifetime of the asset using any of the accepted methods of amortization. Amortization methods that can be used include straight-line, the unit of production method, reducing balance, sum of digits and increasing charges.

OLAP Office™ technology has been used for budgeting and forecasting for capital expenditure. The assets are amortized over their useful lives with the amortized amounts automatically filtering into the budgeted and forecasted income statements. The appropriate net asset values can also be reflected in the balance sheet accordingly.
